- Christoph Geiser was
born in Basel in 1949; he now lives in Berne. Because he was a conscientious
bojector, he was briefly incarcerated. Although he began studying
sociology, he soon turned to working as a journalist and, since
1978, as a free-lance writer. his travels during the early 1980s
included extensive stays in the United States and Australia. he
is a major Swiss writer, being credited with having abolished the
taboo of homosexuality for Swiss-German literature. Among his recent
works is the novel Die Baumeister (The Master Builders;
1998).
