Uwe Timm was born in Hamburg
in 1940 and studied German literature and philosophy in Munich and
Paris; he now lives in Munich. A writer of highly acclaimed novels
such as Morenga [1978] and Die Entdeckung der Currywurst
[1993; The Invention of Curried Sausage], he has also written
children's books; in fact, one for each one of his children such
as Rennschwein Rudi Rüssel [1989; Rudi the Racing Pig]
for his daughter, Johanna. His works have been translated into fourteen
languages, several novels into English: for example, Die Entdeckung
der Currywrust and Johannisnacht [1996; Midsummer
Night].
