- WIRZ, Mario
- Mario Wirz was born
in Marburg in 1956 and has worked as an author, a director and an
actor. In 1988 he moved to Berlin to be a free-lance writer. His
earlier works include several plays and collections of poems, including
Und Traum zerzaust dein Haar. Nachtgedichte [1982; And Dreams
Toussle Your Hair. Night Poems] and Ich rufe die Wölfe
[poems, 1993; I Call the Wolves]. Wirz' autobiographically informed
ficton and poetry have established him as a prominent participant
in the German AIDS discourse. In this discourse his voice is one
of lyrical calmness, although he has also collaborated with Rosa
von Praunheim, who is known for a more aggressive stance.
