- Jakob Hein was bornin
Leipzig in 1971 and now lives in Berlin, where he works as medical
doctor, specializing in the psychiatry of children, in the city's
famous hospitals, the Charité. The sone of Christoph Hein,
one of the msot significant writers from East Germany, Jakob Hein
discovered storywriting for himself when he was six years old. Among
his publications are two collections of short stories published
with Piper Verlag. The story in Volume 7, No. 2/3 is taken from
his first collection, which ranges from his earliest childhood memories
to the last year in high school (which happens to be the year of
the Fall of the Wall).
