- Felicitas Hoppe, born
in Hameln in 1960, now lives in Berlin. After pursuing her studies
in Germany, Italy, and the United States, she worked both in theater
and as a jornalist. After her literary debut with a collection of
short stories, Picknick der Friseure [The Hairdressers' Picnic],
she published her first novel, in which a knight, a freelancer, and
a dog travel halfway around the world in search of a third man, the
explorer Doctor Stoliczka, with whom they are caught up in a strange
affair and whose trail goes dark somewhere in India. Shortly before
Christmas, the unequal partners separate in the burning heat of an
unknown crossroads. This is the point where the exceprt in Volume
7, Number 1 begins.
