- WEISS, Peter
- Peter Weiss was born near Berlin in 1916 and died in Stockholm Sweden, in 1982. In 1934 he had to emigrate with his parents to escape the Nazi persecution of the Jews. He studied Art in England and eventually came to Sweden, where he painted and made experimental films. He started realtively late as a freelance writer; however, he is considered to be one of the most important German-language authors with theater plays such as Marat/Sade and the monumental novel from which the selection in Volume 3, Number 3 is taken. (A separate passage has already been published in translation in Dimension 11.1)
